About

YSFF LogoThe Yale Food Systems Symposium (YFSS) is a student led, interdisciplinary conference initiated by students at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Now in its fifth year, the symposium welcomes the enthusiastic support of students from Yale Divinity School, Yale School of Management, Yale School of Public Health, and Yale Law School.

This conference grows out of a graduate school that prioritizes both academic research and applied professional development. As such, the aim of the YFSS is to provide a space where researchers, practitioners, theorists, and eaters can come together to answer the pragmatic question: what is the optimal approach path to a just, sustainable food system? This is an effort by students, and for students, in the broadest sense of the word. The YFSS privileges new ideas that push the conventional boundaries of food systems thinking, and as such seeks to highlight emerging research, innovative projects, non-traditional collaboration, and truly interdisciplinary thinking.
